Solve The Cube Tips and Strategies
Last updated:

Winning in Solve The Cube comes down to memory, accuracy and key count. These tips come from top players' videos and from our own analysis.

1. Accuracy first
Every wrong key turns the cube the wrong way and has to be undone. A clean 4 TPS beats a messy 6 TPS. Slow down until you go several games without a single mistake.
2. Memorise in chunks
Don't read single letters. Group them in 3s or 4s ("AID-WAK-DSS") during inspection. Methods reuse the same algorithms, so the chunks start to repeat.

3. Fewer keys equals faster
Buy Corners First early and save for Petrus or ZZ. In the guide we watched, going from Beginner to Petrus cut solves from about 10 seconds to about 6.
4. Home-row hands
Keep your left hand on A-S-D (Q-W-E above) and your right on J-K-L (I above). Don't change your keybinds once you're comfortable.

5. Farm bots, then PvP
Collect every bot's first-win reward, then play real players for rating. Bots help you learn new methods without the stress.
6. Use powerups at the right time
Freeze is strongest when your rival is about to finish. See modifiers and powerups.
7. Learn real cubing
Learning real notation and the algorithms behind the strings makes memorising easier, and it opens up Zero Assist.
8. Spend coins wisely
Methods come before cosmetics. Use code coins (2,510) and the +1,000 join reward toward your first method.
