Your method decides how many keys you type per solve. A shorter method means fewer keys, fewer mistakes and faster wins. This is the most important upgrade in the game.

Which method is best?

Petrus is the community favourite right now. aero_sfx called it the best overall because the sequences repeat a lot, and showed a 6.24-second solve with it. He found CFOP "really nice" but full of long strings of letters that made him stutter. Beginner was the slowest, with stuttery 10-second solves.

What to buy first

  1. Corners First at 4,000 Coins. The codes plus the join reward almost pay for it.
  2. Petrus at 20,000 Coins, or ZZ if you like R/U/L-only finger tricks.
  3. Equip it in the Methods menu. Only one method is active at a time.

Learning the sequences

Before an October update the strings had names, such as "Sledgehammer" and "Block Edge" for Petrus. Now you see only letters, but the same algorithms come up again and again. Learn them as chunks, not as single letters. That's how strong players reach 5+ turns per second.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best method in Solve The Cube?

Petrus is the most recommended (20,000 Coins). Corners First (4,000 Coins) is the best cheap upgrade.

Do methods change Zero Assist?

Zero Assist has you solve a real scramble yourself, so the purchased key strings do not apply there (to be verified).
